To add root disk or additional storage to LPAR via vHMC:

  1. Go to LPAR created as per Create LPAR
  2. Go to "Virtual Storage"
  3. In case of virtual FC storage (NPIV)
    1. Using "Virtual Fibre Channel" tab
      • Add virtual Fiber channel devices to the LPAR
      • Select all Fibre Channel Ports (2/4) and click ok.
You can see availabile port connections count (eg 61) on this screen.
    2. Do zoning, Map LUNs to LPAR
      • This can be done later. Once we activate LPAR then the WWN would be visible at SAN or storage end. The WWN wont appear till we activate LPAR as explained in future sections.
  4. In case you want to map storage via VIOS
    1. Map storage to VIOS via FC/iSCSI etc.
    2. Using "Virtual SCSI" tab
      • Map the LUN with LPAR with appropriate target name
