Belarc advisor is a useful utility which gives brief information about system and network including, but not limited to:

  • Hardware (Processor, RAM, Disk total + used, etc.)
  • Various software installed including Windows version. It very importantly shows product key with which the software such as MS Office, Windows, etc. were installed. This can be useful in finding key if it gets misplaced or was not provided by OEM on bundled OS.
  • Missing security patches and updates
  • Other OS and services running on the same network through scanning of ports, applications, etc.
