To add a virtual CD/DVD (Optical Media) to LPAR using ISO image uploaded to library (See Uploading a new OS ISO to VIOS Library ) use:

  1. Login into vHMC
  2. Go to LPAR created in above steps
  3. Go to "Virtual Storage"
  4. Go to "Virtual Optical Device"
  5. Click on "Add Virtual Optical Device"
  6. Give approprite Device Name (eg cd1), Select the VIOS Server, click ok.
  7. Select the virtual optical device created just now and from Action menu select "Load" option
  8. Select the desired Library file and click ok. (eg Suse12SP4)
  9. The system shows mediafile associated with the CD drive.
