= Proxmox Upgrade from 8.2.2 to 8.4.13 =

== Pre-Requisites ==
* Take Backup of all the VM's/CT's.
* Shutdown all the VM's/CT's on the Proxmox before the upgradation.
* Restart the Proxmox server.

== Step 1: Verify Current Version ==

pveversion -v
apt update -y
</syntaxhighlight>

== Step 2: Update Repository Sources ==
If you get an error while updating via the **Updates** section by clicking on Refresh option:

Edit the following configuration files:

<syntaxhighlight lang="bash">
nano /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pve-enterprise.list
</syntaxhighlight>

Comment the enterprise repo line by adding "#" in front:
<syntaxhighlight lang="bash">
# deb https://enterprise.proxmox.com/debian/pve bookworm pve-enterprise
</syntaxhighlight>

Now add the no-subscription repo in:
<syntaxhighlight lang="bash">
nano /etc/apt/sources.list
</syntaxhighlight>

Add:
<syntaxhighlight lang="bash">
deb http://download.proxmox.com/debian/pve bookworm pve-no-subscription
</syntaxhighlight>

Also comment the line in Ceph enterprise repo:
<syntaxhighlight lang="bash">
nano /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ceph.list
</syntaxhighlight>

== Step 3: Update Packages ==
If there is any interruption during update, run:
<syntaxhighlight lang="bash">
dpkg --configure -a
</syntaxhighlight>

Run upgrade:
<syntaxhighlight lang="bash">
apt update
apt full-upgrade
apt install proxmox-upgrade-helper
</syntaxhighlight>

== Step 4: Fix GRUB ==
<syntaxhighlight lang="bash">
echo 'grub-efi-amd64 grub2/force_efi_extra_removable boolean true' | debconf-set-selections -v -u
apt install --reinstall grub-efi-amd64
apt remove systemd-boot
</syntaxhighlight>

== Step 5: Prepare for Upgrade ==
Run:
<syntaxhighlight lang="bash">
pve8to9 --full
</syntaxhighlight>

If asked to install packages (e.g. amd64-microcode), install them:
<syntaxhighlight lang="bash">
apt install amd64-microcode
</syntaxhighlight>

== Step 6: Final Upgrade ==
<syntaxhighlight lang="bash">
apt update
apt full-upgrade
pveversion
dpkg --list | grep pve-kernel
dpkg -l | grep 6.8
uname -r
</syntaxhighlight>

== Step 7: Remove Old Kernel ==
Remove the old kernel version (example: 6.8.4-2):
<syntaxhighlight lang="bash">
apt remove proxmox-kernel-6.8.4-2-pve-signed
</syntaxhighlight>

Reboot:
<syntaxhighlight lang="bash">
reboot
</syntaxhighlight>

== Step 8: Verify Cluster and Services ==
Check cluster status:
<syntaxhighlight lang="bash">
systemctl status pve-cluster
</syntaxhighlight>

Restart services:
<syntaxhighlight lang="bash">
systemctl restart pve-cluster pveproxy
systemctl status pveproxy
</syntaxhighlight>


The upgraded version info will be visible after logging into the Proxmox VE.
