Wipe (Without Enrolled User) via Intune
Overview
This procedure explains how to remotely wipe a device using Intune, even if it is not linked to a specific enrolled user. The wipe action restores the device to factory settings and removes company data.
Prerequisites
- Intune Administrator or Global Administrator role.
- Device must be enrolled in Intune.
- Device may show as "No primary user" and still be wiped.
Steps
1. Sign in
- Open Microsoft Intune Admin Center.
- Sign in with administrator credentials.
- Go to: Devices > All devices.
3. Select Device
- Locate the target device.
- Device may appear with No primary user.
4. Initiate Wipe
- Click Wipe.
- Select options:
- Wipe device → Full factory reset.
- Retain enrollment state and user account (optional).
- Remove from Intune after wipe (optional).
5. Confirm Action
- Review the warning message.
- Click Yes to continue.
6. Monitor Status
- Navigate: Devices > Monitor > Device actions.
- Track the wipe command status until completed.
Notes
