Web Link App Deployment via Intune

Overview

This guide explains how to publish a Web Link App in Intune. The Web Link App creates a shortcut on user devices that redirects to a specified website.

Prerequisites

• Intune Administrator or Global Administrator role.
• Devices must be enrolled in Intune.
• Users should have access to Company Portal if app is made "Available".

Steps

1. Sign in

• Open Microsoft Intune Admin Center.
• Sign in with an administrator account.

2. Add New App

• Navigate: Apps > All apps > Add.

3. Select App Type

• Choose Web link from the platform list.

4. Configure App Information

• Name: Web Link App (e.g., Company Portal Shortcut)
• Publisher: Your Organization
• Description: Shortcut to company website
• URL: Example → https://intranet.company.com
• Optionally, upload an icon.

5. Configure App Settings

• Select app category (e.g., Productivity, Web Apps).
• Choose launch method:
  • Managed Browser (Edge for work)
  • Default device browser

6. Assign the App

• Add Azure AD groups:
  • All Users
  • Specific department groups
• Deployment mode:
  • Required → Shortcut auto-installed
  • Available → Users install via Company Portal

7. Review and Create

• Review configuration summary.
• Click Create to publish the Web Link App.

8. Monitor Deployment

• Navigate: Apps > Monitor > Device install status.
• Check if the shortcut is delivered to user devices.

Notes

• Company Portal app required for self-install (Available mode).
• Ensure website URL is accessible.
