Check windows partitions for errors when chkdsk seems to hang

It is possible that chkdsk does not runs on a partition while windows is booted (Running) as the files on the partition are in use. It would prompt to run on reboot, but then on reboot it might appear to hang. Thus, in such cases it is desirable to be able to scan partition:

  1. Without requiring reboot
  2. Without worrying about chkdsk hanging during scanning.

This can be done using Ease us partition manager. It can also check dynamic (Mirror) partitions. It also gives option of full surface scan to look for bad sectors. For partitions which are in use, it gives warning and option of "force unmounting" so that they can be checked without requiring reboot. However during scanning the filesystem would not be available.
