Backing up ldap database
To backup ldap database use:
slapcat -l <backup_file> -f /etc/openldap/slapd.conf
Restoring ldap database
To restore ldap database use:
service slapd stop mv /var/lib/ldap /var/lib/ldap2 mkdir /var/lib/ldap slapadd -l <backup_file> -f /etc/openldap/slapd.conf chown -R ldap:ldap /var/lib/ldap
Indexing ldap database
To update index of ldap database, especially after index configuration in slapd.conf is modified, use:
service slapd stop slapindex -f /etc/openldap/slapd.conf
