To deploy vRealize Operations via vRealize LifeCycle Manager on vcloud foundation setup use:

  1. Assuming binary for vrealize operations was downloaded on SDDC manager and has been synced with LifeCycle manager.
See Download software bundles using Internet access from SDDC Manager OR Download offline bundles and reuse them with SDDC Manager for repeat experiments or air-gapped networks
See Deploy vRealize LifeCycle Manager on vCloud Foundation
  2. Assuming workspace one access has already been deployed. See Deploy workspace one access via vRealize LifeCycle Manager on vcloud foundation setup
  3. Log into Lifecycle manager.
  4. Go to Lifecycle operations -> Settings. Click on "My VMware". Login with "My VMWare" account and save credentials in locker, as required.
This My VMWare login is required for obtaining product versions. Without this the deployment might fail.
  5. Go to Lifecycle operations -> Environments. If there is already environment with log insight select the same and choose option "Add product" to deploy vRealize operations in the same environment
If log insight is not deployed so far or a new environment is desired anyway, Go to LifeCycle operations -> Dashboard. Click on "Create environment"
  6. Give appropriate environment name, Select root password, Select datacenter
  7. Select product and deployment size required
Note no. of nodes selected here. That many IPs and FQDN would be required for the setup.
Certificate generated should have FQDN for these nodes and the virtual IP.
A load balancer is automatically configured by life-cycle manager for vrops cluster FQDN with appropriate IP.
  8. Accept license agreement
  9. On license page click select to select already added license to vRealize Lifecycle manager locker. Select the license. Validate association. Click next.
  10. On the certificate page select existing certificate or click + sign to create a new certificate. The new certificate should be valid for vrops cluster FQDN and also for its nodes FQDN (eg vrops.domain.com, vrops1.domain.com, vrops2.domain.com, etc.)
  11. On infrastructure page select thin disk and click next
  12. On network page note that vrops is getting deployed on xRegion network along with Lifecyle manager and workspace one access.
This is in contrast to log insight which gets deployed in Region A network. See Deploy vRealize Operations via vRealize LifeCycle Manager on vcloud foundation setup
  13. On products page disable TLS1 and TLS1.1
  14. Enable DRS rules to keep nodes on separate hosts
  15. Enter vrops cluster FQDN. Enter names of VMs, FQDN and their IPs.
Note that we do not need to enter IP address for cluster IP only FQDN is required. NSX/vRealize life cycle manager will resolve FQDN to determine the IP to be configured automatically.
  16. Run pre-check
  17. Deploy vrops once pre-check have passed.
  18. After the deployment vRealize Operations can be accessed via virtual IP FQDN using https://
You can login into vRealize Operations using account (Eg configurationadmin) created on workspace one access.
