GIMP shortcuts

We can use following shortcuts in GIMP:

p paintbrush (Tools -> Paint Tools -> Paint Brush)
We can click to paint using selected brush.
Brush selection - Windows -> Dockable Dialogs -> Tool options
Drawing Line - If we click at a point and then go to other point. On other point if we do shift click then there is a straight line drawn from previous point to current point.
Shift-e eraser (Tools -> Paint Tools -> Eraser)
We can erase a particular area by clicking there. Erase depends upon type of brush.
Brush selection - Windows -> Dockable Dialogs -> Tool options
Note that: eraser would work on current layer. Ideally for this layer locks should not be enabled. (Windows -> Dockable ; Dialogs -> Layers. There are icons in front of Lock: for pixle / alpha channel locking)
Also eraser will not work outside selection, if there is some selected area. Hence we can do "Select none (Ctrl+Shift+A)" if eraser is not working
R (Tools -> Select Tools -> Rectangule select)
We can select using mouse click and drag.
Then we can clear the selected area using delete key.
We can also copy (Ctrl+C) the selection to clipboard and paste (Ctrl+V). The paste might initially overlap the origianl rectangle. We can move it to another location.
Scale selection - There is Tools -> Transform Tools -> Scale option to scale the selected area
Threshold (Colors -> Threshold)
This can be used to remove all other color from image which is not meeting threshold. Often it can be used to clean up paper forms which are filled / colored to again convert to grayscale image without colors.
Free Select (Tools -> Select Tools -> Free Select (F))
Then we can select by click and drag. We can keep drawing till we reach back to original point. Then the area under drawing gets selected. After it is selected we can use similar selection options such as clear (Delete), Scale, Copy, paste, etc.
