udpcast

We can use udpcast to clone from single source to multiple destinations using multicast so that time taken to copy to any number of destinations is same as time taken to copy to single destination.

updcast is available on 'System Rescue CD' by default. On sender we can use command 'udp-sender --file /dev/sda'. On receiver we can use command 'udp-receiver --file /dev/sda'. We can start sender and receiver in any order. Once all recievers are connected we can press any key on sender to start copying. Copying speed is displayed on all receivers which may take few minutes to stabilize. Average speed on 100mpbs networks has been found to be between 50 and 60mbps.

Information about udpcast is available at http://udpcast.linux.lu/ Site has udpcast live ISO images and also pxeboot images that will give udpcast sender / receiver options.
