Upgrade license on Cisco SAN switch

To upgrade license on Cisco SAN switch use (Tested on MDS 9148S):

  1. Open Device Manager in browser after configuring IP address
  2. Download appropriate license using switch (and module) serial number
  3. From Device Manager go to Admin-> Licenses. Here also it will show hostID or switch serial number.
  4. Copy license using scp from linux machine to switch
  5. Install license using GUI or cli:
    install license bootflash://module-1/MDS----.lic
  6. Look at licenses information in GUI to see if additional ports are enabled.

We can check license using cli as follows
