Veeam Backup & Replication Installation Guide
1. Download the ISO
Download the required version of the Veeam Backup & Replication ISO from the following link: Veeam Download Page
2. Mount the ISO and Launch Setup
Mount the ISO file and run setup.exe to begin the installation process using the installation wizard.
3. License Agreement
Accept the license agreement, then click OK and Next.
4. License File
- If you have a license file, browse and provide it from your local system.
- If you do not have a license file, click Next to proceed with the installation with the Community Edition.
5. Program Features
In the Program Features section, select the installation path for Veeam software and click Next.
- If no path is selected, it will be installed by default to:
C:\Program Files\Veeam\Backup and Replication
6. System Configuration Check
The installer will perform a system configuration check and display any required components/packages.
- If your system meets the minimum requirements, click Next to continue.
7. Default Configuration
The wizard will display the default configuration settings for Veeam.
- You can customize these settings, but in most cases, it's recommended to proceed with the default configuration.
- Click Install to begin the installation.
8. Finish Installation
After the installation completes, click Finish to close the wizard.

Pre-Upgrade Steps
- Save the backup configuration.
- Pause all backup jobs.
- Ensure all Veeam services are stopped.
- Check compatibility between the current and target versions.
Example Compatibility Matrix
- VBR 11a (build 11.0.1.1261) or later: Direct upgrade to 12.3 is supported.
- VBR 10a or later: Direct upgrade to VBR 12.0 is supported. VBR 12 does not support upgrading directly from 9.5 Update 4b.
- VBR 9.5 Update 4b or later: In-place upgrade to 11a is supported.
Download and Mount the ISO
- Download the ISO of the target version.
- Mount the ISO and run setup.exe.
- The Veeam Backup & Replication installation wizard will launch. Continue with the installation.
Upgrade Process
- The installer will automatically detect the current version of Veeam Backup & Replication and prompt for an upgrade.
- If Veeam Enterprise Manager is installed and running an older version, you must upgrade it first. Only after that will the Veeam Backup & Replication upgrade option will be enabled.
- If the system has not been restarted for a long time, a reboot may be required during the upgrade of Enterprise Manager.
License Agreement
- Accept the license agreement.
- You will be prompted to provide a license file:
- If you have a subscription, log in to your Veeam account to download the license file.
- If you do not have a license, you can proceed with the Community Edition by clicking Next.
System Configuration Check
- The system configuration check wizard verifies that all required packages are present.
- If any packages are missing, the wizard will prompt you to install them. Click Install.
- A reboot may be required after installing prerequisites.
Resume Upgrade
- After rebooting, run setup.exe again.
- Navigate to:
- Veeam Backup & Replication > Upgrade Veeam Backup & Replication > Accept the license.
- The upgrade wizard will prompt you to update remote components (if any agents are running on remote servers). You may review the components to be updated, or simply click Next to proceed.
- The upgrade process may take some time.
Completion
- Once the upgrade is complete, click Finish to close the upgrade wizard.
- You can verify the version through:
- Main Menu > Help > About
