Configure backups for vCenter 7.0

For configuring backups of vCenter 7.0 use following steps:

  1. Open https://<vcenter-ip-or-fqdn>:5480/ appliance management interface
  2. Login with root user and its password
  3. Go to backup option
  4. Configure appropriate backup location. For example sftp based backup to any Linux machine


Restoring backup

To restore the backup we need to use installer of same version (including matcing patch number) to start vCenter installation. The installer will prompt for "Install / Upgrade / Restore" etc. options. We can choose restore and give location of backup to restore. A new vCenter gets created with specific IP, etc. parameters and the backup is restored.
